Catherine Nelson Grange, Au.D.

Doctor of Audiology
Spencer, IA and Worthington, MN clinics

When Dr. Grange joined the team at Hearing Health Centers in 2008, she officially made our company a family business, as her father is Dr. Nelson.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Hearing Science and Spanish from the University of Iowa and her Doctorate in Audiology from the Arizona School of Health Sciences.  She is a fellow of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology and a member of the Iowa Hearing Association and the Tinnitus Practitioners Association.

Dr. Grange specializes in tinnitus, commonly known as ringing in the ears.  “So many of my tinnitus patients were told repeatedly by various healthcare practitioners that there was nothing that could be done for their tinnitus – that they should go home and live with it.  It’s immensely gratifying to be able to offer hope and relief to these patients,” Dr. Grange reports.  She enjoys working with patients of all ages, but has a soft spot for our pediatric patients.  The youngest patient she has ever fit with hearing aids was just six weeks old!

Dr. Grange is originally from Ruthven, IA.  She now lives in Spencer, IA with her husband.

Dr. Grange sees patients in our Spencer, IA and Worthington, MN clinics.

Chuck lives in Fairmont, MN with his wife.  They have two adult children.  Chuck is an active member in Early Riser Kiwanis and is a biking and kayaking enthusiast.

Jean Duran, LHIS

Licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist
Cherokee and Ida Grove, IA clinics

Jean joined Hearing Health Centers in 2008.  She has an Audio-Visual Degree and an Associates Degree in Business from Ridgewater College.  After college, Jean spent time in the Army and afterwards, worked for the Marine Corps.  After undergoing treatments for cancer, Jean began working in a hearing clinic.  This opportunity gave her the chance to see how much better hearing impaired patients’ lives could be once fit with an appropriate hearing aid.   She became a Licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist and has been helping hearing impaired patients for over 15 years.  She is a member of the Iowa Hearing Association.

Our patients appreciate all the time Jean spends with them, especially as they are getting adjusted to their new hearing aids.  Jean always takes the time to review diagnostic test results and make sure our patients understand them and all the treatment options available.  Our elderly patients especially appreciate this, as they never feel rushed and leave the clinic feeling very comfortable with their hearing aids.  According to Jean, the best part about working in the hearing healthcare field is “helping those patients who really want to hear better and watching how a world of new sounds can open up to them with the right hearing aid.”

Jean is originally from Worthington, MN and now calls Cherokee, IA home.  She has one daughter.   She is actively involved with Hospice in her local community.

Jean sees patients in our Cherokee and Ida Grove, IA clinics.

R. David Nelson, Au.D., CCC-A

Doctor of Audiology
Spencer, IA , Worthington and Fairmont, MN clinics

Dr. Nelson is the founder of Hearing Health Centers and has been taking care of patients for over 35 years. He obtained his Masters Degree in Audiology from the University of Iowa and his Doctorate in Audiology from the Arizona School of Health Sciences.  He has a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology from the American Speech/Language & Hearing Association, is a member of the Iowa Hearing Association (in which he has served as President), and is a fellow of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology.

Dr. Nelson began his career working as a teacher of the deaf.  He soon became interested in how he could help those individuals hear better with hearing aids.  “It has been amazing to see the huge advances in technology since I began my career.  When I became an audiologist 35 years ago, we were fitting hearing aids that had to be worn in a shirt pocket because they were too big to fit on an ear.  Now we have truly miniaturized hearing aids that people won’t even notice someone is wearing.  There is no doubt that we are now able to help our patients hear better than we ever have been able to before,” Dr. Nelson reports.

Dr. Nelson is originally from Milford, IA and has lived in Ruthven, IA for the last 35 years.  He has four grown children and four grandchildren.  He spends most of his free time out in his garden or playing his guitar.

Dr. Nelson sees patients in our Sheldon and Estherville, IA and Worthington and Fairmont, MN clinics.

Tracy Sullivan, M.A., CCC-A

Audiologist
LeMars, IA and Worthington, MN clinics

Tracy has been a part of our team at Hearing Health Centers for over ten years.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communicative Disorders and her Masters in Audiology from the University of Northern Iowa.  She has a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology from the American Speech/Language & Hearing Association and is a member of the Iowa Hearing Association.

Tracy’s favorite part of her work is being able to spend the time with each patient to really get to know about their daily life, how their hearing impairment is affecting them and then matching up what hearing aid is going to best suit their needs.  “Hearing aids amaze me.  It is incredible the amount of things that they do in real time, in a variety of different environments.  They do all of those things in such a small package,” Tracy reports.  Tracy’s patients enjoy the relaxed environment at Tracy’s clinic, as well as her expertise in open-fit hearing aids.

Tracy is originally from Radcliffe, Iowa and currently lives in LeMars with her husband and two daughters.  She is active at her daughters’ school in the Parent-Teacher Organization and enjoys serving on her church’s Administrative Council.
